Our third and final project before moving into our final major project is designing an album cover. From this we be looking at layout and design alongside what we have already learnt through our previous projects.
As a starting point for my project i made a Pinterest board for album covers. This will give me some inspiration as looking at other peoples art in the context of album covers is defiantly helpful.
Here I have also taken the covers the art that i like the most. These are my most listened too albums on Spotify and i wanted to look at how the album artwork influences the music and relationship between them. This will be imperative to my research because as to really know the music will make the outcome of the cover better.

After looking at music that I listen to i quickly realised that i wanted to find an album that I think needed some work, i also wanted it to be for someone who i listened to a lot. This is why i have chosen Brockhamptons album All American Trash.
WHO ARE BROCKHAMPTON?
The world of Brockhampton can be overwhelming to the uninitiated. The collective put out a dizzying three albums last year—each of them great—and they just announced their next one: PUPPY comes out this summer. It's time to get on board with the crew, but for Brockhampton that takes some background knowledge. So let’s get the basics out of the way.

I've chosen to re design their debut album All-American Trash. I think this is a really important album for Brockhampton and I don't really think the album cover does it justice.
On March 24, 2016, Brockhampton released their debut mixtape, All-American Trash for free. The project focuses on highlighting the group's individual members, and was led by the music video "Flip Mo", performed by Merlyn Wood and featuring Dom McLennon.

Brockhamptons Kevin Abstract also known as Ian Simpson is the founder of the boyband. Alongside his work for the band Kevin has also branched out into solo work.

I started by creating album covers that we're really simple and looking at what is the most important parts of the cover. However i don't think these are very successful as they are really basic and need more information on them, yet i do like the simplistic approach.

I then started too look at ways of presenting the album cover without it being on a block colour background. I experimented around with the gradient tool on Photoshop taking into account some of the different colours that Brockhampton use as they tend to experiment with blues and yellows and i wanted to combine the two, and they gradient tool was the perfect way to do this.

Im happier with the way these turned out than the last ones as they have something extra going on with it still being simple.
whilst doing the album cover project we got the chance to participate in a life drawing workshop. I really enjoyed this as it's something i haven't done a lot of and it was also nice to get away from my computer for once. These will also be good for my portfolio.
